With a spate of huge stories breaking in the past few weeks, you might not have caught the massive environmental crisis in northern Mexico that began earlier in August.
According to the Associated Press, local politicians claim that Grupo Mexico, a private mining company in Sonora with a troubling track record of hazardous waste violations in Mexico and the U.S., was slow to report a disastrous fault in its leaching ponds, which hold industrial acid used in the mining process. The spill released around 10 million gallons of acid into the Bacanuchi and Sonora Rivers.

this was so amazing. so thought provoking. an eye-opening social criticism.
Edward, the name of the man who’s picture (where he is in an American Flag shirt throwing a tear gas canister away from children) has been see an across social media and news websites is asking people to stay true to this real meaning of what is going on. Yes, the picture captured is an outstanding one and will probably go down in history books, but please remind yourself that his image is not some kind of fashion trend. It is nothing something cool to wear. This picture captures so much more than that. It captures the start of something huge.
fun fact: if you tell someone to kill themselves it’s considered encouraging suicide and you can get a fine of $25,000 and 10+ years in prison. if they actually commit you can be charged with manslaughter.
